Pear cider, beards & painful old shoes

Den's been busy this week but is back with some stuff that's great, some that aint so great and some that has to be seen to be believed. Tune in those peepers and cab doors people....

More filth from Des this time an ode to those hard working Amsterdam cleaners...

I bet that's the first time Cliff has been beneath a jizz mopper...Anyway, Den is fresh from reading a great article about the social- pariah that is Cliff Richard. Check out some unheard gems and squirm with embarresment and reach for the time machine and snipers rifle to take him out at Wimbledon in '96. Did you hear about Una Stubbs? She had a nasty accident...she fell off a cliff!

This is the most bonkers thing that Den has seen in many a day. It's worth watching to 1:40 to hear Frankie Howerd boom out "the leeches, the leeches". For those of you out there with the constitution of an ox there is about 6 parts to this- follow the link and look at the users other vids. That Robin Gibb may be wiggy goofy skinny runt but he'd got his 'ead screwed on to have side-stepped this stinker!

There is a better way of applying blue paint

Den's been working on his jazz look this last week and still ain't so sure...but he is committed to looking like a hawaiian head shrinking freak 3 weeks on sat so he must endure. Oh, that and painting the crapper a nice shade of Hawaiian blue.

Den casts his mind back to Summer '98 and an anonymous warehouse in Cologne. I didn't know what to expect from this bunch but I was pleasantly surprised (well you would be wouldn't you given the circs!). This is from the little known "Kicking the clouds away" LP tribute to George Gershwin. They look pretty naff but forgive them...it was 1998!

The Mobylettes- The man I love

Shits and giggles time from (Bull)Moose Jackson and his "Big ten inch". I'm guessing they were rioting back in '52 when this one hit the mid- west...

As you'll know Den is a Twin Peaks freak so he flipped his wig when he found this one...oh the fun- Coop you're a hoot! And while you're at it search youtube for "Twin Peaks Lego"...oh the fun!!

Now Den's head was turned when his peepers caught sight of this '60's inspired tomato. Now Den's bag is all over the place but it's rare to see an act with a 60's influence anyway and even rarer when its not naff bollocks. Check out the film real on her sight- Den particularly digs the fact that this gal can splash some paint around- blue as well...the same colour as Den's recently repainted smallest room...

What Kenny Rogers knows about chicken

Den is back from the US with sides and plenty more good stuff- including a wife on his arm! Here's some videos over on the youtube for you to get your freak on to.

Den's been snarfing up those expensive cinema snacks whilst tuning his peepers into the latest releases. This is a spin-off from one of 'em...

Den's been listening to a lot of Bobbie Gentry this week. Steer clear of that LP with Glen Campbell though- it's a stinker! This video is very sixties! Anybody know who's version came first? Bobbie or PJ Proby?

Den's loved this one since he heard it in 'The big lebowski' many moons ago...Kenny Rogers is so naff it's barely funny...check out his range of chicken!!

Another blast from the past with this one- Den tuning his ears into this around '92 when his Ma won a competition and got the 'My Girl' soundtrack. God-awful flick, top soundtrack. Guys who sound like gals float Den's boat...

Normal service will be resumed next time...

Lost for words

It ain't often that Den is lost for words so he's going to let the stuff do the talking this week...

Russ Winstanley's getting bigger....Jaime Winstone's getting smaller. See some slightly embaressing moves to some Northern Soul on Paul O' Grady's show...

Ice lollies don't taste like they used to

Hectic prep at Chez Den this week for the upcoming Burly Q 2 at the Shakespeare next Saturday. So a ragbag random selection of cuts for you, some more Dexter eyeball pleasers and Burly Q headliner Red Sarah as the weightlifter with the stonking barnet and 'tache combo- Jurgen Sandow.

I don't know much about this one but it's a great tune but I've been kicking back to it of late. Nice side!

A nice one from the Motown box in honour of this week's star of Dexter! That's my girl!!!

Live albums usually sound like absolute tosh but this one is worth a punt. Great band, great 'old' stadium, both sadly gone...

So Den ploughs on through season 2 of Dexter and despite Jaime Murray's character being a right royal pain in the ass the amount of flesh on show should make the show have a warning label! So will he bump her off- I guess you already know. Ten down, two to go!

A welcome return for Red back to the pages of Den, this time as Jurgen Sandow! What a hoot! Shame you won't be able to make it down next Sat- we're sold out!!!

Major Lance ain't no Australian Army man

I ain't gonna bang on about the weather like some tight-ass Englishman so here's some fun, fun, fun for you schmo's out there in net land. So I've dug out some lip-smackin' Major Lance clips from the tube, current Thursday night fave 'Psychoville' and some tasty burlesque from Fancy Chance.

I love this guy- he looks like such a square in his high buttoned cardigans. Man this guy is like a rake! Check him out, but avoid that 'orrid version of 'Um,um,um,um.um' by the convicted criminal Wayne Fontana. I think this guy may be the only one to have put sides out on Okeh, Stax & Motown. Take away Lance (and yes that appears to be his real name!). Check out the duds in the early '70's track 'Since I lost my baby's love'

Den has been feasting his eye balls on a Thursday evening with Psychoville. You search the night high and low for a picture of Chelsea & Kelly Sue Crabtree and you can't find one so you have to settle with the cast photo...hey ho...

And last but not least the smokin' hot, inked, Fancy Chance. Yowza, yowza, yowza, if it ain't funny it ain't burlesque!

Posh sausage sandwiches, fine coffee and out of reach platters

So, good news time; Den was out snarfin' and schlurpin' at the wonderful Rude Shipyard in Sheffield and buying up sides at the first Beat Miner's Social Club at The Washington, Fitzwilliam St (more of them tunes next week) and getting a free trip to The Lyceum to see 'Brief Encounter' whilst getting a free feed at Den Snr's...This time round: Billy Fury, Brief Encounter & Warren Speed.

So, whilst reading the cover notes of the fantastic CD 'The Rocker' which I borrowed from Den Snr (only £3 on Amazon!!!), it told me that Billy only expected to live to the age of 30 following a bout of childhood illness- jeez, he only made 43 but littered the 60's with more slabs of fantastic plastic than you can shake a stick at. I'm particularly fond of 'Bye bye', the B-side of 'I call my rose' from 1969 when Billy was the over-the-hill age of 29...Check 'em out...the version of Nothin' Shakin' makes The Beatles George Harrison-led version sound like the lily-livered pap it was!

I saw the fantastic stage version of 'Brief Encounter' on the company the other day, boy was it good! Best thing on the boards for a long time with a free glass of plonk and some nuts in the interval I was chuffed as little mint balls. See it!

So a little bit of 'boylesque' this week. I couldn't find the great Yorkshire routine by Warren Speed so the infamous chav-tastic attack will have to do. He knows how to work them knee high golf socks!  Dig it..
